The HUB is still open, but we still have to raise the purchase price to stay in operation!
The late Senator Everett Dirksen once said, "A billion here, a billion there, soon we're talking about real money."
We're not talking billions, but we are talking some real money like $5 million to provide this "regional sports center" in Spokane County. We have a little time, but it will take a community-wide effort to underwrite the cost.
Our challenge is to raise the $5 million. Yes, we are going after a few potential large donors. Yes, we are expecting current grant applications to yield income. But the real secret of success is to have a large number of people in our region -- folks like you -- each do something tangible now.
We are looking for up to 1,000 families that will each give $1,000. You'll be a part of "The HUB CLUB." Talk about spreading out the load and working together for the entire community! Of course, several individuals and companies will want to and are able to do more than $1,000. We are thankful for each of these, but the HUB will be blessed with a wide support base of ordinary folks that want to do something really significant for the community.
Once the building is paid for, we'll be able to do so much more to help our youth, especially the underpriviledged and those with special needs.
So, here's the bottom line...
You are invited to join "The HUB CLUB" and be one of the 1,000 to donate $1,000 (or more) to establish the HUB as a "regional sports center" and a great place for our children to enjoy good sports. Every person, family, or company that joins this select group will have their name inscribed on the "HUB CLUB Board" near the main entrance to the HUB. You'll be able to look back with a thankful heart that your generosity is providing a safe place for kids and adults.
If you do not have that $1,000 on hand today, sign up for $50 or $100 a month or whatever fits your budget. Whatever you are able to do will be deeply appreciated.
Some communities may float bonds for recreational facilities, or use tax dollars. We just believe there are more than enough generous people in this area who want to see this project go forward in a big way. And when you sign up, think referrals and networking. You probably have eight other friends, relatives, associates and neighbors who want to do the same. It's as easy as 1 2 3.
